
The Lenoir County Board of Education is seeking to fill a vacancy in the office of Superintendent. The public school district with approximately 9,100 students (pre-k - Grade 12) operates 17 schools, including an Early College High School and an alternative school. This district has recently gone through a successful school bond construction initiative which involved building and renovating a number of schools. The mission of the district is to prepare all students to be competitive and productive citizens in a global economy. Lenoir County is in eastern North Carolina within an hour and a half of the beaches and to Raleigh. Candidates shall be eligible to serve as superintendent according to NC laws and State Board of Education regulations and have relevant leadership, management, and administrative experience. A doctoral degree is preferred. Salary will be based on the top of the applicable state salary schedule, plus benefits and a local supplement. The application deadline is December 16, 2011.
