Renewal Requirements for Standard Professional II License

All SPII license holders will need 7.5 CEUs per 5-year renewal cycle.  The following requirements apply to individuals renewing their licenses on or after August 1, 2011.  Credit is no longer given for teaching experience.  For a license to remain current, all credit must be earned by the expiration date of the existing license.  DPI is now enforcing the $55 processing fee for anyone who fails to renew their license by the expiration date.

  • Speech Pathologists hired after 7-1-11 will follow their Board of Examiners requirements.
  • Teachers earning National Board Certification may receive 7.5 renewal credits.
  • Teachers who are in the 10-year National Board renewal cycle may earn 2 credits (1 for literacy and 1 for academic).
  • National Board Credits cannot be split between two cycles.  They can be used within the current cycle or carried over in full to the next renewal cycle.  A written request must be submitted to Human Resources noting which renewal cycle to post National Board Credits.
